I made a hash of it as the host; not enough jokes in the first bit I did, plus some not very astute audience interaction: but on the other hand, nobody was volunteering much information. I did my best (I think) but that was my best with very little rehearsal, and I think my timing was largely off. And then I went back on stage and did some more.
Apparently one guy was annoyed enough by my constant appearances to tell a companion that he hated me, as another comedian overheard: so I got a reaction, if nothing else. But it's high time that I put in more rehearsal time.
A nice audience though; ended up at the bar with some tv producers, angling to get something - but what? There's some other talents at the club I don't think I could keep pace with right now - but who knows? Felt guilty about staying out though; I would be better, probably, to be home in bed with the one I love. But I did the gentlemanly thing and showed a lady to the kebab shop, then got a taxi home. Toodle doo!
