On Thursday, it will be Hong Kong Establishment Day, the thirteenth anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong from Britain back to China. So much has changed since 1 July 1997. Back in the Nineties, Hong Kong was polluted, full of massive inequalities between rich and poor, and was controlled by a distant, undemocratic government.
