Further adventures with Tiger Balm

The last thing I did before I went to bed last night was to rub Tiger Balm into my aching thighs.

The last thing I did before going to sleep was to writhe for two hours, my thighs burning from the heat of the Tiger Balm.

Medical

I went for my yearly medical check-up today, in the medical centre in the Admiralty Building. Usually I go to the Prince's Building, right in Central, but due to the idiosyncracies of scheduling, I had a 15 minutes walk today instead. I hope that doesn't play merry hell with the test results.

Great Balls of Wax

This morning I went for a medical at the expensive health centre over the road from the office. It was a bit inconvenient, because I had to fast for twelve hours beforehand, which denied me my usual opportunity to dine on a dozen pheasant eggs and a bowl of muesli before I went to work. Also, I had to dress up in an unflattering gown and get x-rayed, but that's par for the course these days.

Downtime

I woke up feeling awful today, and ended up taking the day off and staying in bed.  This was probably the wise choice; I'd spent the previous evening stumbled around, struggling with mundane tasks like talking to people, eating noodles and not dribbling out the side of my mouth.  When I get ill, even with something like a bad cold, I'm a menace to myself and those around me, so after five days of what sounded like a 40-a-day smoker's cough, it was time to isolate myself.
