Another Night Safari

With friends in town at a loose end, we went to the Night Safari. Second time around, some things are more fun, some things are pallid reminders of how things used to be.

Sundown

The Sundown Marathon is a bit of a misnomer, because it starts at just after midnight, by which point it's been dark for ages. Perhaps if they'd started the race at 5 in the morning and called it the Sunup Marathon thay would have been more accurate, but they'd also have suffered more runners keeling over from heatstroke, the blood in their veins turning to the consistency of marmalade as they steadily dehydrated. Still, having previously competed in the Midnight Sun Marathon in Norway (it's a marathon, you finish after midnight, and the sun is still out) I do hanker after events with more appropriate names.

It's getting a bit wierd

I got home tonight to the din of a lion dance crew banging pots and pans and yelling, but as this is fairly normal for a Wednesday night in Chinatown, I thought no more of it. Until a particularly loud bang got my attention and I looked out the window, to see a horse outside the temple.

Well past bedtime for Bongo: Singapore Night Safari

This evening I left work with a skip in my step at six o’clock, and rushed back to the hotel to get changed and then head up to the Night Safari.

A shot in the dark

Long lenses are cool
