London Aquarium

After the zoo, then the aquarium.

London Zoo

Today we went to London Zoo, because there's nothing that fits a wintry day better than looking at tropical animals. Outdoors.

Cheers

Last night we had the third and final round of our wedding celebrations, in the Punch Tavern on Fleet Street. When we arrived at 4:30 I was a bit worried as there seemed to be lots of people I didn't know, but they all cleared off around 5 as the first of my friends began to stream in.

Somerset House

Today we had a few hours to kill before getting ready for our party, so we walked down from Fleet Street to the Strand, and visited Somerset House.

The Office

Today I had to go into the office to get some work done; I didn't really feel like breaking my holiday up, but with some urgent deadlines at the start of next month I needed to do something, rather than risk the chance of standing next to a smoking crater with a guilty look on my face in two weeks' time.

Sleepwalking to Nando's

My internal clock is still off: today I woke at six a.m., stumbled around in the dark for an hour or two, and by nine I'd had breakfast and wanted to go back to bed to sleep for the rest of the day.

However, since I had exactly the same experience every day in Seattle and in Hong Kong, I don't think this is jet lag. It's just inconvenient.

Moon Over Soho

Rather than continuing with the rather depressing jihadi novel, I read Ben Aaronovitch's Moon Over Soho today, in between bouts of driving a fake car through video games.

Rivers of London

I've been reading Rivers Of London today, which from the blurb sounds like an awful, twee, awfully twee Magical Story About London with faux-Harry Potters and other such garbage, but that turned out to be a rather fun romp through Covent Garden, in the company of the evil personification of Mr Punch from Punch & Judy.

Back in London

So after a day's sleep, I was recovered from jet lag.  Well, a night's sleep.  Maybe if I can't adequately distinguish night from day, I'm not totally back in proper mental shape.
