Saturday, packed
Today was pretty exhausting; I got up and started running before 7 o'clock, and since Tuesday I've done more than 50km, which, after doing between 5 and 10 in recent weeks while I was tapering down, has been a pretty hefty step up. So far, the experience I've had of higher volumes in 2012 has been standing me in good stead. That, and a diet of smoothies every morning, so I've been filled with a mix of fruit, spinach and hemp powder every morning. If I'd done it on bread and water, I believe I'd be a broken man by now.

Children, air conditioning, inexplicable rage
It was another sunny day in Hong Kong, but I spent all but fifteen minutes of it in the office, wildly gesticulating at my screen, while my computer emulated a grumpy teenager, sullenly refusing to respond to any of my commands.
Perhaps that was the problem; commanding children is unlikely to be a successful parenting approach. Then again, my other normal methods for dealing with problems (leave it for six months and see if it gets better on its own, which works for damaged camera lens and ill-maintained dehumidifier units, and spray it with WD40 and stick it down the shed, which has varying success rates within the realm of bicycle maintenance) are unlikely to count as good childrearing either.

Hong Kong - phooey!
I was worrying that nothing of any note had happened today. I had failed to read the paper, so perhaps many wonderful things were occurring around me, but I was as yet unawares.
So low had I got that I actually began to look through the drawers of my desk. I'm not sure what for, exactly. Certainly not inspiration. The main reason for having drawers in a desk is so you can sweep the accumulated mess into them when the occasion demands it.
