An early German Christmas
We had our team Christmas dinner at a German restaurant in Tanjong Pagar today; this catered slightly better for vegetarians than Hamburg, the restaurant I went to in Osaka after the marathon this November. Which is to say, there was more for me to eat apart from just potatoes.

Boozed
Tonight I went for a quiet drink at 28, the bar over the road from our office.
That would have been fine, but three cocktails, a glass of stout and some apple fritters later, I staggered out and caught a taxi over to River Valley for dinner and some more drinks that I could ill-afford, either physically or financially.
The problem with drinking earlier is that inebriation arrives earlier; we were wrecked by 8pm, whereas every good Englishman knows he needs to be pie-eyed about 10:30, to avoid risking any shenanigans/shitfacedery. On a school night, anyway.
This wasn't a school night. But I was coming off the back of several days of hard work and frustration, so perhaps it was acceptable to get tanked up. While we were out we met a random lady, flown in from Jakarta for the weekend, teaching in Indonesia. She taught us about drinking, and about the hidden club beneath Avalon in the Marina Bay. In return, we bought too many shots and then fled early. Well, midnight. Is that early? Are we lightweights? What is going on?

Boozed up and ready for something
I left the office at 7:30, eyes ready to fall out of my face and roll into the gutter. It had been a hard day one way or another, bouncing up and down. Well, more down, and back to level. I think the stress and indecision and lack of exercise is gradually killing me.
That, and reading a book about UN missions in Haiti, Rwanda and Somalia. That was never going to be light reading.

Blah, blah and more blah (with a slight poke at the Great Leader, and beer)
Tonight I hosted at the comedy club, which was for the best as I'd not written anything new or rehearsed this week. In fact, I really haven't rehearsed for ages.
I got away with it though, bouncing along on a tide of old jokes and inane crudeness, trying out a different order for my Shenzhen girlfriend joke (which didn't work) and getting some laughs for my porn marathon. A good crowd, even if it was just four paying customers and some comedians.

A time machine, powered by booze
I woke up this morning feeling awful; I left the office feeling as blue as a boy could be. And I wasn't even walking in Memphis with Mark Cohn. Oh well.
