An early German Christmas

We had our team Christmas dinner at a German restaurant in Tanjong Pagar today; this catered slightly better for vegetarians than Hamburg, the restaurant I went to in Osaka after the marathon this November. Which is to say, there was more for me to eat apart from just potatoes.

Pay attention

I went home for lunch today; it's only ten minutes from the office, and my wife's not at work until the 28th, so it was a nice opportunity to see her in the middle of the day. Usually I'll stagger through the door at 7pm, groggy from a day of staring at screens and largely unfit for human interaction. Today I bounced through the door with a spring in my step, proud to have dodged a rainstorm by moments and infected with the inaccurate joy you obtain from stealing an hour of time from your employer, even if it's the lunch hour you're entitled to.

(I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this before, but a job can do strange things to your mind.)

Danger Lunch

Today I stayed at the office for lunch and ate pasta, to minimise the chances of choking to death on my own. However, the pasta I had was full of stringy green shoots that kept getting stuck in my craw, so I almost choked to death (or boked all over my workmates) instead. Seems like there's nothing so threatening as food.

Tidy up please

Today we took the tram to Wimbledon to see an old friend from Expedia.  Beforehand I met up with a college chum, Hugh, to talk about philosophy, denounce Wittgenstein for being (a) somewhat affected, (b) socially regressive when it comes to persuading university students to take up manual labour and (c) the scourge of honest, if inaccurate builders.
